The holiday spirit was in full swing at Florida PACE Centers Westchester as participants gathered for an afternoon of making gingerbread houses. During this activity, participants practiced important fine motor skills through grasping, pinching, and carefully placing small decorative items on their gingerbread houses. These movements help support hand strength and dexterity that are essential for everyday tasks, making the activity both enjoyable and beneficial for functional wellness.
Beyond the physical benefits, the event provided a wonderful boost to mental health and social connection as participants shared ideas and laughed together in a festive setting. Reflecting on the importance of these gatherings, Personal Care Attendant Tamara Tabares Caballero shared, “Fun activities like this make a big impact on hand strength, focus, and social connection, while also bringing extra joy and togetherness during the holidays.”

FLORIDA PACE CENTERS MIRAMAR
Florida PACE Centers Miramar kicked off a wonderful new tradition this year with its inaugural Christmas concert. Participants took center stage to sing classic carols and holiday favorites. The live performances created a sense of community spirit, as everyone joined in to enjoy the music and holiday cheer.
Ugly Sweater Day added lighthearted fun to the festivities. Participants and the Miramar team alike embraced the playful spirit, showing off their most creative and colorful sweaters while enjoying time together. “It was so nice to see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves,” shared Rachelle Bazille, Activity and Day Center Coordinator. “The activities brought a lot of joy to our participants and made the holidays feel extra special.”

FLORIDA PACE CENTERS HIALEAH
Participants enjoyed an afternoon packed with a variety of engaging activities including holiday-themed coloring and dancing to live music. An interactive floor dice game added an element of fun and friendly competition while promoting physical activity and cognitive engagement. The relaxed atmosphere allowed participants to connect with one another while exploring different ways to stay active and entertained throughout the day.
The Florida PACE Centers Hialeah staff ensures that every participant finds something enjoyable by offering a well-rounded mix of activities. “We value giving our participants a voice in choosing a variety of activities, helping keep them engaged, motivated, and excited to take part in experiences that matter to them,” shared Lisa Irigoyen, Activity and Day Center Coordinator.

FLORIDA PACE CENTERS MIAMI
Florida PACE Centers Miami participants have been bringing incredible energy during Zumba with Heber, a class led by our certified occupational therapy assistant.
Since the class started, participants have been eagerly embracing the opportunity to get together and improve their balance, coordination, and cardiovascular health through dance. As Heber Yero explains, “Zumba is a great way to support physical therapy goals by improving balance, coordination, strength, and endurance, all while keeping movement enjoyable and motivating for our participants.”

FLORIDA PACE CENTERS KENDALL
Florida PACE Centers Kendall celebrated the season with a holiday outing and gingerbread house making – blending festive fun with social connection. Participants enjoyed a relaxed outing to Dolphin Mall, where they took in the holiday decor, did some light shopping, and shared in the seasonal spirit together. Later that day, participants channeled their creativity with gingerbread house decorating, designing their own sweet masterpieces with colorful decorations to express their individual style.
“Whether strolling through the holiday decorations at Dolphin Mall or getting creative with gingerbread decorating, these activities brought joy, connection, and meaningful moments to our Kendall participants throughout the holiday season,” said Tania Monteagudo Martin, Personal Care Attendant.
